  1. This six-minute video provides a brief tutorial on how to use PATH’s Vaccine Cost Calculators for middle-income countries. These Excel-based tools are available in English, French, and Spanish and offer an easy way to compare the costs of certain vaccination programs (either for a new introduction or a product switch) with each vaccine product available in the global market. The video is in English, with French and Spanish subtitled versions also available. For middle-income countries, we currently offer calculators for pneumococcal conjugate vaccines and rotavirus vaccines. It is also helpful for users of the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine calculator, though it’s important to note that the HPV tool requires more initial inputs (e.g., different types of target populations and delivery strategies) than are demonstrated in this video. These tools allow country-level decision-makers and implementers, as well as technical assistance partners, to input local data and then compare estimated vaccination program costs for different vaccine products and presentations, exploring multiple vaccine options at once. The calculators enable users to compare the estimated cold chain volume and financial costs of different vaccination programs annually and for a total period of five years. Users also can add domestically produced vaccine options that are not available in the global market, as well as compare costs for up to three different scenarios of multi-vaccine use for countries that plan to use more than one product at the same time.

  3. Oxygen therapy is an essential part of ending preventable deaths among children and adults globally. However, reliable access to oxygen, paired with pulse oximetry, remains inadequate across many health facilities in low- and middle-income countries for many reasons. Limited data, perceptions about costs, poor understanding of the impact on health outcomes, and the complexity of integration and maintenance across the health system all contribute to decreased access.Scaling up access to oxygen is one of the most effective and critical actions decision-makers can take to improve health outcomes and save lives. The Oxygen Delivery Toolkit: Resources to plan and scale medical oxygen provides materials to help decision-makers, implementers, and advocates plan, manage, and communicate the value of scaling up oxygen delivery systems and access to oxygen and pulse oximetry. This guide provides a summary of the toolkit resources, as well as intended users. The toolkit is available at www.path.org/oxygen-delivery-toolkit.Updated in February 2025 to reflect new or revised resources in the toolkit.

  4. Lymphatic Filariasis and Onchocerciasis reached the World Health Organization’s (WHO) elimination threshold in both Plateau and Nasarawa States in north-central Nigeria in 2017 and 2021, respectively. However, no evidence-informed plan was created to detect or respond to potential recrudescence of the eliminated diseases while waiting for national elimination to occur. To meet this gap, Plateau and Nasarawa States were selected to pilot the development of the WHO integrated post validation/verification surveillance (PVS) planning toolkit for neglected tropical diseases.PATH conducted the pilot, working in collaboration with The Carter Center – Nigeria as a local partner.

  5. The Millennium Water Alliance (MWA) has been implementing the five-year Sustainable WASH Project in Ethiopia to strengthen water supply, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) services in schools, health facilities, and communities, contributing directly to Ethiopia’s One WASH National Program and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation’s Safe Water Initiative 2025 strategy.Acting as a central hub, MWA has coordinated partners’ activities in the Amhara Region, and supported the expansion of improved WASH services. In August 2024, PATH conducted the endline evaluation of WASH services in 26 selected health facilities across Dera, Farta, and North Mecha Woredas. This evaluation focused on assessing the quality, functionality, and improvements in WASH services, particularly for facilities implementing the Clean Clinic Model. The findings highlight progress achieved since baseline and midline assessments, while emphasizing the challenges faced due to Ethiopia’s ongoing conflict and climate change impacts.
