Nurturing Care for ECD Materials

Related program: Primary health care

PATH has developed and implemented—in Kenya, Mozambique, and South Africa—an integrated ECD model that integrates critical and contextually-relevant ECD messages and activities into maternal and child health service delivery “touch-points.” Given the general lack of counseling aids, reporting tools, and information, education, and communication materials required for integrating ECD content into maternal and child health services in these countries, PATH has developed and/or adapted materials for use in a variety of health facility and community settings.

PATH has adopted the Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses module on Care for Child Development (UNICEF, WHO), as its principal ECD capacity-building tool. Care for Child Development, endorsed by International Pediatric Association, was designed to support clinical and non-clinical health providers in ECD counseling.
