Expanding market access for health products and services

Related program: Market dynamics

We increase access to existing and new health products and related services by identifying key barriers, designing collaborative solutions, and advancing strong, sustainable, and inclusive markets.

Quantifying gaps and forecasting demand

In partnership with ministries of heath, we assessed respiratory care access, needs, and product gaps and forecasted funded demand toward national oxygen strategies—as part of the COVID-19 response and beyond, toward sustainable oxygen health systems.

Understanding key barriers and opportunities

PATH conducted landscaping activities to assess the global and local market implications of introducing a bundle of diabetes self-care products.

We assessed the capabilities of wholesalers and distributors that can partner with governments, private-sector commercial partners, and product developers to increase availability of health care products in five sub-Saharan African countries.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, PATH identified and engaged country-level stakeholders, researched disease burden, described the health system, landscaped the availability of diagnostics and treatments, and identified barriers and opportunities for improved pneumonia management.

Estimating health impact

To inform national insurance coverage, PATH modeled the health impact and cost-effectiveness of expanding oral HIV pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) to high-risk individuals in two provinces in Vietnam.

Developing product value proposition

To inform research and development decisions, we generated insights on stakeholder perceptions, potential needs, and opportunities for a pipeline drug that could prevent maternal mortality.

Building investment cases

Together with global, regional, and country stakeholders, we identified digital health investment areas that can catalyze a sustainable and inclusive transformation in the digital health sector. Select priority investment areas will be costed and analyzed for impact to understand the return on investment.
