Increasing funding for global health
How PATH advocates mobilize vital resources for global health
Global health programs are a foundational investment in building a safer, healthier, more prosperous future for all. These investments strengthen health systems vital to global health security, boost local economies, improve international cooperation, and—most importantly—save lives. Despite historic gains in health outcomes over the past several decades and a growing number of low- and middle-income countries assuming increased financial responsibility for health programs, current funding for global health is insufficient to defeat some of the world’s most challenging health issues, and many donor governments are retreating from foreign aid.
As conflict, climate change, and economic instability continue to pressure government budgets, dedicated and strategic advocacy is necessary to safeguard these achievements and ensure global health remains a priority. That’s why PATH works directly with governments and in multilateral spaces such as the World Health Assembly and G20 meetings to mobilize funding for vital global health initiatives. Drawing from PATH’s deep technical expertise, our team leverages creative, evidence-based approaches to raise awareness of global health priorities and spur action from policymakers to continue investing in essential health care services, medicines, and vaccines for everyone, everywhere.
