Rolando Tomasini, PhD
Rolando Tomasini joined PATH in 2023 as the Director of Partnership Development for Europe in the Asia, Middle East, and Europe division. Rolando is responsible for providing strategic leadership and guidance across PATH’s activities with the European Union institutions and European partners.
Rolando Tomasini has more than 20 years of experience in the development sector. Prior to joining PATH, he had a 10-year tenure at the UN, serving as Head of Global Outreach for UNOPS Executive Office and Head of the Regional Director Office in Latin America. While at UNOPS, Rolando led a $2 billion medical procurement project in Mexico, which required extensive collaboration with the Presidency, ministries, the pharmaceutical industry, and the diplomatic corps. He also supported numerous public health initiatives, focusing on areas such as last-mile distribution, cold chain logistics, market shaping, and blended finance.
During his doctoral studies, Rolando worked with UN agencies and produced an extensive body of award-winning research publications on topics ranging from humanitarian logistics to public procurement. In the private sector, he deepened his expertise by establishing Corporate Global Procurement Academies for industry leaders such as Danone, Alcatel, and Total.
Rolando holds a PhD in Supply Chain Management and a specialized Master’s in International Procurement and Humanitarian Logistics. He has lectured at business schools including INSEAD, CBS, and BI, and serves on the boards of academic programs at the University of Copenhagen and Hanken School of Economics. Born in Venezuela, Dr. Tomasini is a French national of Italian origin. He is fluent in Spanish, French, English, and Italian. Rolando is currently based in Brussels.
