Karin M. Finkelston
During her 26 years at the World Bank Group, Karin M. Finkelston held senior leadership roles at both the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA). As vice president for Asia Pacific, Ms. Finkelston led IFC’s investment and advisory business across the region, mobilizing sustainable private investment to help solve development challenges in riskier markets.
She was a member of IFC’s Global Management Team and chaired the Blended Finance Committee. She also served as IFC’s vice president for Partnerships & Outreach, managing IFC’s relationships with donors, nongovernmental organizations, and global partners as well as leading IFC’s Tokyo and Western Europe teams. Karin led MIGA’s political risk insurance operations as vice president and chief operating officer, deploying MIGA’s guarantees to catalyze international investment into strategic sectors in emerging markets.
Before joining the World Bank Group, Karin was a vice president at Manufacturers Hanover Trust Company, heading the multinational lending team in Hong Kong after starting her career in New York. She was also a manager at KPMG Barents in Hanoi, Vietnam, and Washington, DC. She spent 23 years of her career based in Asia. Her board experience includes corporate and private equity boards in Asia as well as multilateral partnership advisory boards internationally. Karin has an MBA from Harvard Business School and an undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College.
