Employee engagement with PATH

Why PATH?

PATH can help your employees create social impact in their careers and consequently feel more engaged and included at the workplace. Through this toolkit, you can run campaigns that allow your employees to contribute toward global health impact.

Our story

Recent years have been marked by unprecedented health challenges. Around the world, the COVID-19 pandemic not only claimed millions of lives; it also disrupted vital systems, reversed progress against other diseases, and intensified existing inequities. Despite these setbacks, PATH remains undeterred in our mission to make good health care accessible to everyone.

Together, with help from you, your colleagues, and employees, we can move humanity forward—beyond the pandemic, and on toward health equity. Your support can help create fit-for-purpose solutions that increase access to essential health services; prevent, treat, and eliminate life-threatening diseases; and strengthen public health systems.

Why employee engagement matters

Employees today are looking for ways to create social impact through their careers. By supporting PATH’s unique purpose-driven initiatives, you have the opportunity to improve retention, strengthen your business, and improve public health around the world.

“90% of employees who work at companies with a strong sense of purpose say they’re more inspired, motivated, and loyal.”
— Porter Novelli, 2020

Employee Champions

Employee Champions are members of your team who are committed to advancing PATH’s mission. Together, we can recruit Champions to serve as leaders in organizing and activating the corporate campaign, and leverage their affinity for PATH to inspire support from their colleagues.

How to identify and engage employee champions

  • Reach out with a companywide survey to identify those who are committed to advancing health equity.
  • Share examples of PATH’s work with your employees to engender support.
  • At times, PATH can also help identify and engage employee champions.

Activating employee champions

  • Have employees reply to your outreach to share why they are committed to advancing health equity.
  • Check with employee resource groups, a possible source for finding those willing to serve as employee champions.
  • Confirm employees' willingness to support your company’s campaign for PATH.

Leveraging employee champions

  • Champions are motivated. They are perfect for serving in campaign leadership roles.
  • Champions can serve as internal spokespeople or potentially host PATH campaign events.

Getting started

Announcement email

Dear Colleagues,

At [Company], we believe in equity. It is simply unacceptable that half of all people—3.9 billion—lack access to essential health services; or that each day, 15,000 children die never having reached their fifth birthday. These numbers are no accident. They happen when the needs of people and communities are under resourced and deprioritized.

That’s why we are partnering with PATH: a global nonprofit that improves health for people and communities who experience disproportionate burdens of disease or who lack access to the providers, medicines, and devices that make healthy lives possible. Our support can help PATH’s expertise go further as they work to save lives and strengthen health systems with science and technology.

We are asking employees to join us and PATH as we help build healthier communities for everyone by donating at [website] or designating PATH through our workplace giving program [include company fundraising goal if applicable]. PATH’s work addresses health from nearly every angle and reaches more than 150 million people, on average, every year. We’ve also included a link to a short video about PATH’s mission and work around the globe.

Thank you for your support of PATH because when one of us is healthier, we are all healthier.

We look forward to sharing our progress as we join them on this journey.

Sincerely,

Cold chain investments vital for essential medicine delivery: While substantial investments have strengthened the cold chain for vaccines, the systems and capacity for heat-sensitive medicines have not seen such investment. Integrating essential medicines into the vaccine cold chain could offer opportunities to reduce stockouts of lifesaving medicines, improve health service delivery, and overcome service disruptions in lifesaving care.
