Promoting climate–health resilience
Our support for enhancing climate–health resilience includes both adaptation and mitigation measures. Expanding our work on climate–adaptive health systems and communities, PATH-CHRI with support from USAID, launched the Sustainable Action for Climate and Health (SACH) Initiative for catalyzing collective climate–health action in two Indian cities—Mumbai and Bengaluru.
SACH has developed a comprehensive menu of interventions for futureproofing health facilities, workplaces, and communities against climate–related risks and extreme weather events to guide on–ground action.

505.6 KB PDFCHRI-PATH, in partnership with the USAID, has established the Sustainable Action for Climate and Health (SACH) Initiative in India. The aim is to promote climate adaptive health systems, workplaces and communities through partnerships and linkages to products, services, and finances.
With about 60 partners onboard including development organizations, community–based organizations, health care facilities, corporates and donors, the initiative is exploring collaborations and identifying actionable interventions in Indian cities. The interventions span from development of city level climate and health action plans, training of the health–care providers, understand youth perception and awareness towards climate change, exploring demonstrations for calculating carbon emissions from health care facilities, conducting social behavior change and advocacy campaign, supporting the health care facilities in implementing climate–health programs, and convening the ecosystem at the national level.
These interventions leverage partnerships between the city governments, local organizations, private sector organizations and subject matter experts to be implemented on–ground and advocate action towards climate and health.
