Community-Based Approach to Intermittent Preventive Treatment for Malaria in Pregnancy in Kisumu, Kenya: Exploring the Value of Utilizing Community Health Workers in Malaria in Pregnancy Prevention

In sub-Saharan Africa, malaria in pregnancy continues to contribute to high maternal and newborn morbidity and mortality. In Kisumu, Kenya, PATH developed a two-phased approach to increase coverage of malaria in pregnancy prevention activities and strengthen antenatal care. This report details the activities and outcomes of the pilot project and offers recommendations for next steps.
