The G20 presidencies of Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, and India have all echoed the importance of digital technology in strengthening health systems. During India’s recent presidency, the Global Initiative on Digital Health (GIDH, or “Guide”) was launched under WHO’s guidance. The mission of GIDH is to foster better coordination in the digital health sector, providing governments and partners with tools, building blocks, and platforms needed for sustainable health system digitalization.
As Brazil leads the development around the next steps for GIDH, it has invited PATH, the World Health Organization (WHO), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and Transform Health Coalition to host an event during the 2nd G20 Health Working Group (HWG) Meeting, convening key non-state actors alongside government and G20-associated officials to build consensus amongst all stakeholders who will be necessary to operationalize GIDH successfully.
Join us on Zoom to hear from global thought leaders representing governments, multilateral and bilateral agencies, international aid organizations, academics, donors, and the private sector. Distinguished speakers will help build the case for the systematization of and investment in GIDH by emphasizing the importance of connectivity, cybersecurity, data governance and digital public infrastructure for health—key underpinning themes in making global digital health accessible for all.
This will be a hybrid event, with G20 delegates attending in person in Brasília and additional participants joining online. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in French and Portuguese.
