PATH to become new host of the Global Nutrition Report
The Global Nutrition Report (GNR) is pleased to announce the appointment of PATH as its next host. The GNR is the world’s leading independent assessment of the state of global nutrition. It provides the best available data, in-depth analysis, and expert opinion rooted in evidence to help drive action on nutrition where it is urgently needed.
As a leading organization in global health, PATH has been selected for its extensive expertise in hosting initiatives, supporting partners, and driving action in nutrition. The organization was selected through a competitive tender process led by the GNR’s Independent Expert Group and Stakeholder Group.
PATH will take over the role from Development Initiatives (DI), host of the GNR for five successful years. As the new host, PATH will support the implementation and delivery of the strategic vision detailed in the GNR’s 2030 Charter. The Charter sets out how the GNR aims to achieve its mission to drive stronger nutrition commitments, action, and accountability through independent, trusted, and actionable data and evidence. PATH will further develop the GNR’s brand and actively support the development and promotion of all GNR products, including the report, the Nutrition Accountability Framework, and the Country Nutrition Profiles.
Nikolaj Gilbert, President and CEO of PATH, said: “Around the world, we’re seeing how connected global challenges are, with economic pressures and climate change exacerbating the global nutrition crisis. We need more and better action across sectors, and the Global Nutrition Report provides an invaluable, independent evidence base for critical decisions and investments. We are thrilled to be an integral partner in stewarding this work and the funding that supports it.”
Renata Micha, Chair of the Independent Expert Group, said: “We are excited to welcome PATH as the next host of the GNR. With a proven track record and expertise in global health, PATH will be an important partner in continuing the legacy of GNR’s success and advancing better nutrition for all.”
Shawn Baker, Co-chair of GNR’s Stakeholder Group, said: “We are delighted to confirm PATH as the next host of the GNR, and are excited to see how they apply their long-standing expertise in global health to this new role. We are extremely grateful for the impact that Development Initiatives has made during its time as Host and would like to thank them for their contribution to the global fight to improve nutrition.”
Through Development Initiatives' coordination, data analysis, production, engagement, and communications expertise, the GNR has grown significantly. This included supporting the launch of the Nutrition Accountability Framework, the world’s first independent and comprehensive platform for registering SMART nutrition commitments and monitoring nutrition action.
A transition process will take place between DI and PATH during April 2023, with the transfer of knowledge, systems, contacts, and relationships, as well as the GNR’s IP, brand, and website. PATH will host the GNR from 1 May 2023.
