PATH signs action plan against COVID-19 at the US Global COVID-19 Summit
PATH commits to helping vaccinate 70 percent of the world by September 2022, to saving lives now, and to better preparing the world for the next health threat.
PATH has joined world leaders to rally around a common and global vision for ending the COVID-19 pandemic. The six-point action plan introduced during the virtual COVID-19 Summit convened by President Biden on the margins of the 76th UN General Assembly establishes ambitious targets that PATH has fully committed to, namely:
PATH will help vaccinate the world against COVID-19 by supporting country readiness for vaccine rollout and designing innovative solutions to overlooked aspects of delivery that improve the speed and quality of vaccination.
We will support technology transfer and strengthen manufacturing in regions that have not received adequate vaccine supply.
We will save lives now by increasing access to medical oxygen and supporting the development of sustainable oxygen systems in countries that have long lacked this essential utility.
We will also support more diagnostic testing surveillance and genomic sequencing to tell us if the response is working.
We will build back better by listening to our partners in countries and supporting their development of stronger, more resilient digital and data-enabled health systems, and we will call for global institutions, governance, and financing to prevent future epidemics and pandemics.
Finally, we will hold global leaders accountable to the funding and commitments they have made to make sure we reach the goal of 70 percent of the world vaccinated by next year.
