July 31, 2023 by PATH

Seattle, Washington, July 31, 2023—PATH today released its first diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) annual report, highlighting PATH’s progress in creating a representative, equitable, and more inclusive workplace.

The report, which covers PATH’s DEI efforts in 2022, includes data on PATH’s workforce demographics, employee engagement, and inclusion-related training and listening sessions. It also highlights PATH’s initiatives to promote equity and inclusion, such as its ELEVATE executive sponsorship program, DEI Regional Councils, Equity in Programming Benchmarks, and people resource groups.

“This inaugural DEI report represents a defining moment in our pursuit of global health equity through the PATH 2025 Strategy. DEI is the very essence that fuels our culture of collaboration, sparks innovation, and propels us towards achieving our mission,” said Nikolaj Gilbert, President and CEO, PATH.

During the launch of the report, Levis Nderitu, Director of Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at PATH, said that DEI at PATH is committed to creating a curious workplace where everyone feels their different perspectives are valued and they have equal opportunities to succeed in a workplace where they belong.

“This report is a testament to our progress in our people, business practices, and public health programming approaches, but we know there is still more work to be done. We are committed to continuing our DEI journey, holding ourselves accountable to our commitments, and creating a more collaborative and inclusive workplace to advance health equity for all,” Nderitu said.

The report also includes a section on how PATH talks about public health and why it matters, examples on how employees are leading DEI efforts, our lessons—and areas where the global health sector can collaborate to drive equity and health for all.

“We believe that organizations that value the unique perspectives that their employees bring are more creative, innovative, and ultimately impactful to the communities they serve,” said Nderitu. “We hope that this report will inspire other organizations in global development to take action and create inclusive workplaces that work for everyone.”
