Levis Nderitu joins PATH as first Global Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Director
PATH is happy to announce that Levis Nderitu is joining PATH as Director, Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, Levis will refine the DEI Strategy PATH launched earlier this year and create a DEI center of expertise to advise, support, and bring together global workstreams.
Levis has over 10 years of international development and private sector experience in DEI, culture, and employee engagement across East Africa, Europe, and the United States. Most recently his work at Médecins Sans Frontières in Kenya has included developing a DEI vision and roadmap, serving as an advisor to leadership, facilitating difficult conversations, and training on cross-cultural competence, unconscious bias, and anti-racism. Prior to that he held globally and locally focused positions in Europe, Kenya, and the US in which he developed and executed on culture, gender, and/or DEI strategies touching all levels of the organizations for which he worked.
Levis will serve as the primary DEI advisor to the executive team and board of directors, including providing input to the PATH Strategy and facilitating DEI learning sessions.
The 2021-23 DEI Strategy launched internally to all staff in March 2021. It was developed and informed by leaders and employees across PATH including the DEI Advisory Group, People and Culture team, Executive Team, Human Resources leaders and business partners, People Resource Groups (PRGs), and employee-led DEI working groups across the organization.
"Take bold, intentional and informed steps to make PATH more diverse, inclusive, and equitable by putting justice and ethics at the core of every aspect of our institution, from who we are and where we are – to how we operate our business and how we approach public health in communities around the world." -- PATH DEI Vision
In June 2021, PATH's Strategy 2025 formally incorporated the three pillars of the DEI Strategy – People, Business Practices, and Programming and Public Health Approach - as enablers of the strategic framework that will guide PATH in responding to the current crises we face as a global community, to the needs and priorities of our local partners, and to the calls for the continued transformation of our sector.
“I am thrilled to be joining PATH and energized by the work the organization has done to become a more equitable, diverse and inclusive workplace and to lead the transformation we need in the global health sector. I hope to bring my expertise and experience to carry out this role and improve how we work together as a global team and to better serve communities through PATH’s important work,” says Levis.
