PATH joins call to stop tuberculosis

March 22, 2006 by PATH

On March 24th, World TB Day, PATH joins global health leaders and agencies around the world in theCall to Stop TB campaign. The goal of the Stop TB campaign is to encourage world leaders, organizations, governments, corporations, and individuals to fully fund and implement the Global Plan to Stop Tuberculosis (TB) 2006–2016.

Tuberculosis is a curable respiratory disease that infects one-third of the world’s population and kills nearly 2 million people a year. Treating and curing people with TB prevents the spread of the disease, strengthens health systems, and reduces poverty among vulnerable populations.

Since 2003, PATH has worked to support Ukraine’s national TB plan through various activities, including the development of public messaging to increase awareness of the disease and the training of primary health care workers. PATH also has TB activities in Asia and Africa. Read more about PATH’s TB work.
