16th International Pathogenic Neisseria Conference: Recent Progress Toward Effective Meningococcal Disease Vaccines
This report, published in Human Vaccines, describes developments in meningococcal disease vaccines presented at the 16th International Pathogenic Neisseria Conference in Rotterdam in September 2008. It includes progress on an affordable and effective serogroup A conjugate vaccine for use in the meningitis belt of sub-Saharan Africa, as well as updates on other vaccine development efforts around the world. It also highlights several MenB vaccines that have advanced to clinical evaluation.
