From 2006 to 2011, PATH conducted demonstration projects in four low- and middle-income countries—India, Peru, Uganda, and Vietnam—to provide evidence for decision-making about public-sector introduction of human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines. This is part of a series of reports that summarizes lessons learned from these projects to help guide future HPV vaccination program planning, especially in low-resource settings. This report offers practical information to countries that plan to pilot, expand, or scale up HPV vaccination programs. While the unit includes resources on general immunization topics, the main focus is on issues specific to HPV vaccination, such as working with a young adolescent target population in school settings and developing community support for HPV vaccination programs.
