PATH joins global leaders in New York City this week to launch new global goals

This week, PATH will join leaders from around the world in New York for the 70th anniversary of the United Nations (UN) General Assembly, Sustainable Development Summit, Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting, and Social Good Summit to rally around the new global goals that will drive health and development efforts for the next 15 years.

Formally known as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), they aim to end poverty and improve quality of life for all people by 2030.

PATH continues to help shape aspects of the global goals, particularly around maternal and child health, and the critical role of innovation to achieve this ambitious vision for the world. The Innovation Countdown 2030 initiative points to an example where PATH reached across the world to crowdsource ideas in new and different ways and identify 30 innovations with great potential to accelerate progress toward the SDG health targets. As the leader in global health innovation, PATH will work to tackle the health challenges seen and unseen to end poverty and ensure good health for all by 2030.

As part of its contribution to the SDGs, PATH is making a commitment to the Global Strategy for Women's, Children's, and Adolescents' Health to reach more than 500 million people over the next five years with lifesaving vaccines, drugs, diagnostics, devices, and system and service innovations. This commitment will be part of the Sustainable Development Summit on September 26. PATH will participate in several other key events in New York:

• On Friday, September 25, Amie Batson, PATH's chief strategy officer, joined the Every Woman Every Child Private Sector Luncheon. This discussion showcased innovations and private sector actions that advance women's, children's, and adolescents' health. As one of the key advisors on the Innovation Countdown 2030 initiative, Amie reaffirmed PATH's commitment to advance innovations for women's and children's health.
• On Monday, September 28, PATH, the Global Health Council, and Novo Nordisk will bring together leaders from across sectors to discuss the crisis of equity and affordability for chronic and non-communicable diseases (NCDs) on the post-2015 agenda. Alongside representatives from International Diabetes Federation, Medtronic Philanthropy, Palladium Group, and the US Agency for International Development, PATH will issue a call for concerted action at both global and national levels around the integration of NCDs into mainstream global health–specifically targeting the lack of essential medicines and technologies for diabetes. • From Thursday, September 24 through Monday, September 28, the Global Health Technologies Coalition will be conducting video interviews with global health leaders and government officials on the importance of health innovation to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The interviews will be turned into a series of web videos that will be released in October.

• From September 26-29, PATH president and CEO, Steve Davis, will take part in the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting. The event brings together heads of state, chief executives, government and nonprofit leaders, and scholars to analyze pressing global challenges, discuss solutions, and build lasting partnerships to create positive social change.

• On Sunday, September 27, PATH will be participating in the Social Good Summit. Sponsored by Mashable and the UN Foundation, the Social Good Summit is a two-day conference on the impact of technology and new media on social good initiatives around the world.
