PATH to lead USAID program in western Kenya

February 1, 2007 by PATH

PATH has been awarded a $34 million grant from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to prevent HIV transmission and otherwise improve the health and well-being of people in Kenya. The award will fund the second phase of the AIDS, Population, and Health Integrated Assistance Program for Kenya’s Western Province. Over the next five years, PATH and our partners will improve HIV prevention efforts, expand treatment and palliative care for people with HIV/AIDS, and establish health and support services for orphans and other vulnerable children.

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Ambrose Ooko Misore as the director of this project. Dr. Misore will lead a team based in Kakamega and Nairobi.

Partners on the project include the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, JHPIEGO, the Society for Women and AIDS in Kenya, and World Vision.
