Anniversary issue highlights innovative approaches to addressing unmet need for family planning

Outlook, PATH's newsletter for reproductive health program managers and policymakers, has now been produced and distributed for a quarter-century.

Since 1983, Outlook has synthesized the latest scientific research and evidence on effective reproductive health programming and made it available to program managers, policymakers, health care providers, researchers, and educators around the world. Outlook has been published in English, Chinese, French, Indonesian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish, and reaches more than 55,000 readers in 180 countries.

The 25th anniversary issue of Outlook, "Reducing unmet need for family planning: evidence-based strategies and approaches," offers clear suggestions for program managers to address unmet need for family planning in the face of current political, financial, and health-systems challenges. The issue, produced with support from UNFPA, also reviews the link between family planning and achievement of the Millennium Development Goals, including improving maternal and child health, promoting gender equality, and combating HIV/AIDS. Addressing unmet need can help tackle some of the most intractable health and development challenges facing the world today.

This issue is currently available in English. French, Spanish, and Chinese translations will be available on PATH's website in the coming months.
