Good health, better development
When people are healthy, global development has a better chance for success. But while it may make sense to integrate health into long-term development plans, working across the sectors of global development can be challenging. Dr. Christopher J. Elias, PATH’s president and CEO, joins other international development experts this week at a workshop on successfully integrating health into development programs at InterAction Forum 2010. The conference theme is “moving at the speed of change.”
The forum, co-chaired by Dr. Elias, is organized by InterAction, the largest coalition of US-based international nongovernmental organizations focused on the world’s poor and most vulnerable people. PATH is a member of InterAction, and Dr. Elias serves on its board of directors.
Experts from around the world
InterAction’s annual forum features thought-provoking sessions with more than 100 experts from around the world. The conference is expected to attract more than 1,000 participants from 250 organizations representing international nonprofit groups, governments, and the corporate and philanthropic sectors. The three-day conference runs from June 2 to June 4 in Washington, DC. For more information, please see the forum details on the InterAction website.
On Friday, Dr. Elias will moderate “The Successes and Challenges of Integrating Health and Education in Relief and Development: A Case Study of a School Health and Nutrition Program.” The workshop takes place at 9:45 a.m. in Room 150B of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
