"I had breakfast with a true hero this past Tuesday morning—quite a few heroes, actually—and we ate in the garage."
—Bill Center, US Navy Rear Admiral (ret.), PATH donor
Welcome to the Breakfast for Global Health! Each year, PATH welcomes our supporters to our Seattle headquarters for an annual event that fuels our most innovative work. On May 20, 2008, our guests joined us for a trip to India, from the comfort of a breakfast table in our transformed parking garage. Our thanks go out to all those who helped raise a stunning total of $890,000 for PATH’s Catalyst Fund, meeting and exceeding the Impact Challenge.
More than 700 people came to hear Dr. Benazir Patil talk about the uncertainty and fear faced by mothers in India's slums—and PATH's work to make sure they can keep themselves and their babies healthy. Poverty, quite simply, kills—unless communities and families know how to protect each other. We are deeply grateful to all of the guests who offered their time, hearts, and support to families in India.
If you weren't able to attend, you can still have virtual Breakfast with PATH:
- Watch stop-action video of the garage transformation (available through YouTube).
- Check out photos of the event taken by Team Photogenic (available on their site). Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from online sales will benefit PATH through the Adelia M. Fisher Fund.
- Share Dr. Benazir Patil's story and read her message to the Breakfast guests.
- Watch From Innovation to Impact and find out how you are helping PATH bring health within reach for families in India.
- Read the story of Pranita Ingole, one of the women whose lives have been changed by PATH's work, and find out more about the project that helped her have a healthy baby.
- Take an online version of the product development shop tour offered to Breakfast guests.
We hope you will be inspired by what you see and hear. And we invite you to Breakfast next year!
