We are a global team of innovators working to eliminate health inequities so people, communities, and economies can thrive. Our mission is to advance health equity through innovation and partnerships.
From 1980 until 2014, PATH stood for Program for Appropriate Technology in Health. Now we are simply PATH.
PATH was founded in 1977 as PIACT, or the Program for the Introduction and Adaptation of Contraceptive Technology. We have been known as PATH since 1981.
Our work is funded by foundations, governments, multilateral agencies, corporations, and individual investors. Project-specific foundation and government grants currently make up the greatest part of our operating budget. However, social enterprise investment by individuals and families is essential to developing new solutions. These dollars support PATH as a whole, allowing us to explore opportunities, test new strategies, and develop early prototypes. Learn more about investing in and partnering with PATH.
